Four local nonprofit organizations have been awarded $5,000 in grants from the Robert R. Chapman Fund. Funding priority is given to organizations that promote and/or help provide international and cultural learning experiences for youth. The committee reviewed 14 grant requests totaling $35,530. Fall 2011 Grant Awards $1,250 To help send the Energy Dance Company to the International Music Festival in Bad Arsolen, Germany in June 2012. $1,500 Funds will help high school students from lower income families participate in the annual Nicaragua humanitarian service project trip. These students will not only play a vital role in improving the lives of the villagers in the impoverished rural community in Nicaragua, where they will be constructing classrooms or other similar projects, but will also find their own lives changed forever. $1,250 To offset the cost of transportation for a trip to Germany in July 2012. $1,000 Support for the China Exchange Program which seeks to expand the opportunity to promote and help provide an international cultural learning experience for as many students as possible, regardless of their ability to pay the full cost of the experience.
